SAMHSA/GAINS Center selects Athens-Clarke County DUI Court for 2017 Train the Trainer Program

The SAMSHA / GAINS Center has selected Athens-Clarke County as one of 8 communities to receive the How Being Trauma-Informed Improves Criminal Justice System Responses 2017 Train-the-Trainer program. The Athens DUI Court was part of the 12 agency collaborative that sought this grant award in order to bring this training to all team members.
The primary goals of the training are to (1) Increase understanding of trauma, (2) Create an awareness of the impact of trauma on behavior, and (3) Develop trauma-informed responses. Achieving these goals will decrease recidivism, increase safety, and promote and support recovery of justice-involved men and women by linking them to appropriate treatment and support services.
