B-SOBR DUII Court Receives National Award

NCDC Director Jim Eberspacher and NADCP’s Melissa Fitzgerald traveled to Oregon last week to take part in a special Impaired Driving Prevention Month graduation ceremony and to present the NCDC Community Transformation Award to the Beaverton Sobriety Opportunity for Beginning Recovery (B-SOBR) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII) Court.

The event was part of the DWI Court Expansion Project, a multi-year effort made possible by the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility (FAAR). B-SOBR shows that when we come together in a spirit of innovation and collaboration and take a public health approach to substance use disorders, we can save lives, restore families, and make our communities a safer place, all while saving valuable taxpayer dollars.

This was evident in the 10 individuals graduating from the program on the day we attended. Together, they have 4,643 days of sobriety and counting.

We would like to congratulate Judge John Mercer and the dedicated court team on this award, and we thank them for their tireless efforts to protect and serve the citizens of Beaverton. Enjoy the photos!
